$ Abu Shosha Restaurant

Location: Jamal Abed Al-Naser Square

Come Here For: Lunch, Dinner

What to Expect: This is hands down the best, most budget friendly restaurant in Ramallah. The cuisine is typical middle eastern with traditional Palestinean dishes like Maqlooba (see photo below). The people who work there speak great English!

Most of the foods are inherently gluten free. I handed the guy my gluten free Arabic card but he basically tossed it aside so it’s better to explain in English that you cannot have anything with (or touching) bread, flour, tortillas, etc. He totally understood and I haven’t had any gluten reactions.

My favorite dish is the Maqlooba bur just plain yellow rice with chicken and yogurt is amazing for when you’re not into bursting flavors.

Expect to Pay: A typical meal here (which is SO MUCH FOOD) costs between 17 and 25 shekels. You shouldn’t have to pay more than that unless you order a drink.

Where to Sit: For some reason it smells better upstairs. And there’s more space! So I’d recommend there 🙂

Enjoy!
