$ – $$ Haret Jdoudna

Location: Adel Jumean Street, Madaba  Down the street from the Mosaics Church in Madaba

Come Here For: Lunch, Dinner, Shisha, Drinks

What to Expect: This restaurant is a little haven! We would even venture to say the best food in Amman! Between three of us, we ordered WAY too much and paid 15 JOD each but it is possible to eat a lot for much cheaper than that.

They have amazing fried halloumi, really great mansef, and basically you can’t go wrong with what you order. The nice thing about some Jordanian restaurants is that you can order fried foods (like fried halloumi cheese) and they are simply fried in oil! Just be sure to check on cross contamination. I showed them my gluten free Arabic card and they took it very seriously – when I switched seats they moved the bread my friends were eating to the opposite corner!

Like most Arab restaurants, it’s best to be communal and order a few things but they are good at individual dishes as well since it hosts a pretty good sized international community.

Best Place to Sit: If it’s warm, sit outside! The garden is so beautiful. But if it’s cold, inside offers a great haven.

Note: This is one of few restaurants that offers food, drinks, and shisha!

Expect to Pay: 8 – 15 JOD per person for a substantial meal
