Location: In the Balad (center of town) close to Hashem (a different restaurant that everyone knows) 69 Basman Street, Amman, Jordan
Come Here For: Lunch, Dinner, Snacks
What to Expect: This restaurant is THE BEST. Unless you’re there to have a political debate with your friends and then it’s slightly stressful.
But one of the waiters there has a dad with Celiac so they are SUPER careful and make sure everything is good. The Arabic cards should be enough to get you by, but it’s definitely a bonus if you can get someone who speaks Arabic to go with you because it’s more of a local hangout.
Also, the casseroles are more like a stew and are gluten free so don’t be afraid to order them just because they say “casserole”!
Best Place to Sit: Also the only place to sit… Inside! If you’re cold, you can ask them to wheel a heater by you. Gas heater in Arabic is “so-ba”.
Expect to pay: 1.50 to 10 JOD for a great meal! For 1.50 you can get a great plate of saiyabeh(?) but ask for the grilled fish instead of fried.
